THE LAST OF FIVE PEOPLE WANTED IN CONNECTION TO AN OPELOUSAS MURDER WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY YESTERDAY. EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD MARQUES MALIK SONNIER OF OPELOUSAS, WHO FACES A CHARGE OF SECOND-DEGREE MURDER, TURNED HIMSELF IN TO AUTHORITIES. THE VICTIM IS TWENTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD KENDRICK LEWIS, WHO WAS SHOT AND KILLED DECEMBER TWENTY-EIGHTH ON HONEY LANE. VILLE PLATTE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING TWO SHOOTINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE LAST WEEK. THE FIRST HAPPENED LAST FRIDAY WHEN A MAN WAS SHOT IN THE LEG ON NORTH CHATAIGNIER STREET. HE WAS AIRLIFTED TO A LAFAYETTE HOSPITAL BUT HIS CONDITION HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED. THE SECOND SHOOTING, WHICH HAPPENED WEDNESDAY NIGHT LED TO A HOME ON NORTH COREIL (COR ee uhl) STREET BEING DAMAGED BUT NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.
