KAJN Radio began broadcasting in 1977. Owned and operated by Agape Broadcasters Inc, the station’s main offices are in Crowley, Louisiana. The signal originates at the Crowley studios and is transmitted from the TV 3 Tall Tower in Kaplan. The KAJN antenna is 1,600 feet high on the tower, allowing it to reach nearly 2 million people in the Lake Charles, Alexandria, Lafayette and Baton Rouge regions.
Through the years, KAJN has maintained its status as one of the leading Christian stations in the country, as indicated by various surveys. Since KAJN FM went on the air, it has broadcasted only Christian music and programming. The station remains unique in that it broadcasts teaching programs a portion of the day and music the remainder. Many stations today focus on one area or the other.
Musically, the genre of artists has also changed over the years, moving from the country gospel sounds like Teddy Huffam and the Gems and the Hinsons of the early years to Avalon and Four Him in recent years. “We have a mandate to declare the gospel,” says President and General Manager Barry Thompson. “While we are not a church and don’t propose to be, we have come alongside the church to help. The miracles over the years are endless, from seeing people saved to seeing marriages restored and hundreds upon thousands of prayers answered.”
