HUNTERS FOUND HUMAN REMAINS IN SAINT MARTINVILLE YESTERDAY. POLICE CHIEF RICKY MARTIN SAYS THE REMAINS WERE LOCATED IN THE AREA OF ISADORE STREET. AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY TO DETERMINE THE IDENTITY AS WELL AS THE CAUSE AND MANNER OF DEATH. ANYONE WHO HAS INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE SAINT MARTINVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

CASSIDY TOLD REPORTERS IT WAS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BENEFITED NOT ONLY LOUISIANA, BUT EVERY COASTAL COMMUNITY IN THE COUNTRY.
THREE MEMBERS OF THE OFFICE STAFF IN THE TOWN OF OBERLIN WALKED OUT MONDAY. TWO OF THE STAFF MEMBERS SAID THEY EXPECTED TO BE FIRED BY NEW MAYOR LARRY ALEXANDER. THEY COMPLAINED TO KPLC TV OF A HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT. ALEXANDER SAYS THE STAFF MEMBERS WOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH AN EVALUATION PROCESS AND MIGHT HAVE BEEN ASKED TO STAY BUT, FOR WHATEVER REASON, THEY DECIDED IT WAS IN THEIR BEST INTEREST TO LEAVE.
THE LAFAYETTE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO A HOUSE FIRE AT AROUND NINE LAST NIGHT. THE HOME WAS LOCATED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF LOUISIANA AVENUE AND RANDOLPH STREET. AN EYEWITNESS TOLD KLFY TV THAT THE FIRE WAS QUICKLY BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL BY FIREFIGHTERS. NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HAS BEEN RELEASED.
THERE WAS A BOTULISM OUTBREAK AMONG QUARTERHORSES IN VERMILLION PARISH. TWELVE OF THE FIFTEEN HORSES INFECTED DIED. DOCTOR ROSE BAKER WITH L-S-U VETERINARY MEDICINE TELLS KLFY TV THAT THE HORSES CAME FROM ONE FARM AND MOST OF THE HORSES THAT DIED WERE PREGNANT. SHE SAYS HORSES CAN CONTRACT BOTULISM IN DIFFERENT WAYS BUT THE MOST COMMON IS THROUGH CONTAMINATED FOOD.
CROWLEY MAYOR TIM MONCEAUX ANNOUNCED ROAD CLOSURES THAT BEGAN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. THE CLOSURES ARE FOR ROAD REPAIRS. THE CLOSURES ARE AT SOUTH AVENUE H AND MILL STREET, SOUTH AVENUE J AT MILL STREET, AND EAST MILL STREET AT SOUTH EASTERN AVENUE. THE ROADS ARE EXPECTED TO BE REOPENED BY FIVE THIS AFTERNOON.
A PINEVILLE MAN WAS SENTENCED TO TWENTY-TWO-AND-A-HALF YEARS IN PRISON FOR STEALING MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED FIREARMS FROM TWO LOUISIANA GUN SHOPS. TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD SALIH REED STOLE FIFTY-FOUR FIRARMS FROM SENTRY DEFENSE IN YOUNGSVILLE IN SEPTEMBER OF TWENTY-NINETEEN AND SIXTY-TWO FIREARMS FROM GUNS-N-AMMO IN BENTON. U-S ATTORNEY BRANDON BROWN SAYS REED ALSO CAUSED MULTIPLE STOLEN FIREARMS TO BE ILLEGALLY TRANSPORTED TO OTHER CITIES IN THE U-S. REED WAS ALSO ORDERED TO PAY MORE THAN THIRTY-EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS IN RESTITUTION.
