AN OPELOUSAS WOMAN IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER BEING SHOT APPROXIMATELY TEN TIMES EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. POLICE CHIEF MARTIN MCCLENDON SAYS THEY RECEIVED A CALL ABOUT A SHOOTING ON CONVENT STREET AT AROUND FIVE A-M. THE VICTIM WAS REPORTEDLY SHOT BY HER GIRLFRIEND IN A DOMESTIC DISPUTE. KADESIA MOTT TURNED HERSELF IN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. CHARGES ARE PENDING.
The Louisiana Department of Health is making COVID-19 vaccine booster shots available for people with weak immune systems who have had both Pfizer or Moderna shots. The department said in a news release Friday that it’s following guidelines released by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A form with checkboxes for the type of immune system problem is available on the department’s website. People with a filled-out form can get a third shot at least 28 days after their second Pfizer or Moderna shot.
AS STUDENTS HEAD BACK TO SCHOOL AMIDST GROWING COVID-NINETEEN CASES, CALCASIEU PARISH PEDIATRICIANS AND OTHER HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS ARE SHOWING THEIR SUPPORT FOR SAFETY MEASURES. ALMOST TWO HUNDRED PEDIATRICIANS AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN THE PARISH SIGNED A LETTER URGING STUDENTS TO WEAR MASKS AND ENCOURAGING VACCINATIONS FOR THOSE ELIGIBLE. THE LETTER WAS WRITTEN BY DOCTORS CLIFFORD AND CAROLINE COURVILLE. THE DOCTORS ARE HOPING THE LETTER WILL MAKE PARENTS AWARE OF THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE VIRUS.

A COVID-NINETEEN TESTING AND VACCINATION CLINIC IS OPENING ON THE U-L CAMPUS AT NOON TODAY. THE CLINIC, WHICH IS ADMINISTERED BY THE LOUISIANA NATIONAL GUARD, WILL BE OPEN WEEKDAYS FROM EIGHT TO SIX AT BURKE HAWTHORNE HALL AUDITORIUM. THE CLINIC, WHICH IS OPENED FOR THE FALL SEMESTER, IS AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF AND THE PUBLIC. IT WILL BE OPEN THIS COMING WEEKEND AS WELL FROM EIGHT TO SIX EACH DAY.
Charities, faith-based organizations, other nonprofit agencies and small businesses can start submitting applications Monday for grants of up to $25,000 in coronavirus relief aid set aside by state lawmakers. The Louisiana Department of Revenue is administering the $10 million grant program that was created by lawmakers earlier this year and financed with federal pandemic assistance. Application information and eligibility guidelines will be available online at revenue.louisiana.gov. Nonprofits must use the money to offer aid to communities impacted by COVID-19, while small businesses must use the money for workforce development activities tied to economic damage caused by the pandemic.

BOLLINGER WAS LAST SEEN ON FRIDAY NIGHT AT AROUND NINE-THIRTY BY A FAMILY MEMBER. A PICTURE OF BOLLINGER HAS BEEN POSTED ON THE FRANKLIN POLICE DEPARTMENT FACEBOOK PAGE. ANYONE WHO KNOWS BOLLINGER’S LOCATION IS ASKED TO CALL THE FRANKLIN POLICE DEPARTMENT.

ONE MEMBER OF THE TEAM, BEN THOMAS OF CROWLEY, TELL KATC TV THAT IT’S DESIGNED TO HELP IMPROVE SPEED AND PRODUCTIVITY. THE TEAM BELIEVES THE ARM COULD SAVE WORKERS TIME AND MONEY WHILE PREVENTING BACK INJURIES. THE ARM, WHICH IS OPERATED BY A PLAY STATION FOUR CONTROLLER, CAN GRAB THE TRAP, DUMP AND REBAIT IT, THEN PLACE THE TRAP BACK DOWN IN AN AVERAGE OF ABOUT EIGHTEEN SECONDS.
