Louisiana’s state treasurer is undecided about an idea to use unclaimed money the state collects on behalf of residents who are owed the cash to help finance a flood-control project.  Treasurer John Schroder said in a statement Monday he’ll consider any ideas “that do not force taxpayers to fork over any more money.” He says he’s researching if the proposal floated by his predecessor, U.S. Sen. John Kennedy, is viable.  Kennedy wants to use $150 million from the unclaimed property fund for the Comite River Diversion Canal in the Baton Rouge region.
