TWO PEOPLE BREAKING INTO A HOME ON WILKIE STREET IN LAFAYETTE WERE SHOT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. POLICE SAY THE TWO ATTEMPTED TO BREAK INTO THE HOME AROUND NOON AND A PERSON INSIDE GOT A GUN AND SHOT THEM. THE TWO FLED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT OF THEIR INJURIES. POLICE ARRESTED A THIRD SUSPECT, TWENTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD ANTONIO MCCLELLAND, WHO HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH PRINCIPAL TO AGGRAVATED BURGLARY AND CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT ARMED ROBBERY.
IT’S BEEN NEARLY FOUR MONTHS SINCE FORTY-YEAR-OLD TOMMY BOLONEY WAS SHOT AND KILLED AT A HOME IN NEW IBERIA AND, SO FAR, POLICE HAVE NOT MADE AN ARREST. HIS SISTER, TRISCETTE BOLONEY, IS SPEAKING OUT, CONCERNED THAT HIS HOMOCIDE COULD BECOME A COLD CASE. SHE SPOKE TO KLFY TV, PLEADING WITH THE PERPETRATORS OR WITNESSES TO COME FORWARD. TRISCETTE SAYS POLICE ARE WAITING FOR PEOPLE TO COME TO THEM WITH INFORMATION, BUT SHE’D LIKE THEM TO GET OUT ON THE STREET AND INVESTIGATE.
JEFF DAVIS PARISH SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES ARE SEEKING TO IDENTIFY A SUSPECT WHO WAS CAUGHT STEALING FROM BETHEL CHURCH IN JENNINGS ON NOVEMBER THIRTIETH. SURVEILLANCE VIDEO SHOWS A MALE SUSPECT ENTERING THE CHURCH JUST AFTER ELEVEN P-M, WALKING THROUGH VARIOUS PARTS OF THE BUILDING AND WALKING OUT WITH SOMETHING THAT HE STOLE. THE JEFF DAVIS PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE POSTED THE PICTURES ON THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE. ANYONE WHO CAN IDENTIFY THE SUSPECT IS ASKED TO CALL THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE.

A LAFAYETTE PARISH SCHOOL HAS BEEN NAMED THE HIGHEST SCORING SCHOOL IN THE STATE. THE EARLY COLLEGE ACADEMY ACHIEVED THE HIGHEST SCORE, ACCORDING TO RECENT DATA RELEASED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. PRINCIPAL ALEXANDER MELTON SAYS THEY SET BEING NUMBER ONE IN THE STATE AS A GOAL THREE YEARS AGO AND TODAY, THE EFFORT HAS PAID OFF. THE EARLY COLLEGE ACADEMY IS ON THE CAMPUS OF SOUTH LOUISIANA COMMUNITY COLLEGE WHERE STUDENTS ATTEMPT TO EARN BOTH A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND AN ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE.
SAINT MARTINVILLE COUNCILMAN CRAIG PROSPER ADDRESSED THE CITY COUNCIL THIS WEEK AFTER HE WAS ARRESTED AFTER A SAINTS GAME FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY. HE AND HIS WIFE DISPUTE ANOTHER WOMAN’S ACCOUNT THAT HE HAD ABUSED HIS WIFE BY PUSHING HER AND SQUEEZING HER NECK. PROSPER’S WIFE TOLD KLFY TV THAT HE HAS NEVER BEEN PHYSICALLY ABUSIVE TOWARD’S HER AND HE IS NOT A VIOLENT PERSON. PROSPER APOLOGIZED FOR THE EMBARRASMENT THAT HAS BEEN CAST ON HIS WIFE, CHILDREN, COLLEAGUES AND COMMUNITY.

CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES PICKED UP A WRONG CHILD FROM A SCHOOL IN OPELOUSAS AND THE CHILD’S MOTHER IS SPEAKING OUT. COURTNEY RICHARD SAYS THE ONLY WAY SHE KNEW HER FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD WAS IN LAFAYETTE WITH CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES WAS BECAUSE HER DAUGHTER WAS TEXTING HER DURING THE ORDEAL. SAINT LANDRY PARISH SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT DOCTOR PATRICK JENKINS SAYS RICHARD’S DAUGHTER HAD ALMOST THE SAME NAME AS THE GIRL THEY INTENDED TO PICK UP WITH ONE LETTER DIFFERENT IN THE FIRST NAME. JENKINS SAYS THEY FOLLOWED ALL THE PROTOCOLS THEY KNEW OF BUT THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES APOLOGIZED TO THE PARENTS.
