SULPHUR POLICE ARE NOT RELEASING DETAILS ON A HOMOCIDE. IT HAPPENED TUESDAY NIGHT ON SOUTH IRWIN STREET, ACCORDING TO THE SULPHUR POLICE DEPARTMENT. CAPTAIN JASON GULLY SAYS THE INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING.
A PROPOSAL TO RAISE THE SALES TAX IN LAFAYETTE PARISH BY POINT-TWO PERCENT WAS DEFERRED BY THE LAFAYETTE PARISH COUNCIL LAST NIGHT. THE COUNCIL IS LOOKING AT A FUND BALANCE OF BETWEEN FIFTY AND ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND AND COUNCIL MEMBERS AGREE IT IS NOT SUSTAINABLE. LAFAYETTE MAYOR PRESIDENT JOSH GUILLORY SAYS DEFERRING A TAX INCREASE IS WISE BECAUSE RAISING TAXES SHOULD BE A LAST RESORT WHEN ALL OTHER REMEDIES ARE EXHAUSTED. PARISH COUNCIL CHAIR KEVIN NAQUIN SAYS IF SOMETHING IS NOT DONE BY JUNE, PROGRAMS FUNDED BY THE PARISH, SUCH AS THE AG CENTER AND FOUR-H, COULD BE AT RISK.
ABBEVILLE POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR TWO MEN WANTED FOR THE SHOOTING DEATH OF A SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD BOY TUESDAY NIGHT. NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD DAVION M. SNEED AND TWENTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD JAVONTAE VENEY, BOTH FROM ABBEVILLE, WILL BE CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER AND ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER. BOTH SUSPECTS ARE CONSIDERED ARMED AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. ANOTHER SUSPECT IN THE DEADLY SHOOTING, RYHEEM VENEY, HAS ALREADY BEEN ARRESTED.
A Louisiana judge won’t stop Gov. John Bel Edwards from renewing his COVID-19 restrictions amid a legal feud with House Republicans over the rules. Judge William Morvant refused on Wednesday to issue a temporary restraining order that would keep the Democratic governor from continuing the statewide mask mandate, business restrictions and crowd size limits that expire Friday. Morvant instead set a Nov. 12 hearing date to hear arguments in the lawsuit over the restrictions. Attorney General Jeff Landry is representing the House Republicans who have sought to nullify the emergency order.

THAT PUTS THE TOTAL AT SIX HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX, THE HIGHEST TOTAL IN ABOUT A SEVEN WEEK PERIOD. THE NUMBER OF PATIENTS ON VENTILATORS IS UP BY FIVE. THERE ARE TWENTY MORE DEATHS IN THE STATE. LOUISIANA HAS SIX HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE NEW CASES TODAY.
THERE ARE THREE DEATHS IN ACADIANA. THAT INCLUDES TWO IN ACADIA PARISH AND ONE IN IBERIA PARISH. CALCASIEU PARISH HAD ONE DEATH WHICH WAS THE LONE DEATH FOR SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA. THE NUMBER OF NEW CASES IN ACADIANA HAS GONE UP BY EIGHTY-FOUR MOVING THE TOTAL OVER TWENTY-SEVEN THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED. LAFAYETTE PARISH HAD THE MOST NEW CASES IN ACADIANA WITH TWENTY. SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA HAD SIXTY-THREE NEW CASES INCLUDING FIFTY-SIX IN CALCASIEU PARISH. THE TOTAL IS NOW ABOVE THIRTEEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED.

JAYSE FONTENOT WAS DISCOVERED BY HEAD COACH J-C ARCENEAUX IN AN ADAPTIVE P-E CLASS. ARCENEAUX SAID THEY STARTED THROWING THE FOOTBALL WITH JAYCE TO HELP CURB HIS BEHAVIOR, AND THEY ENDED UP TAKING JAYCE UNDER THEIR WING. ARCENEAUX TELLS KATC TV THAT JAYCE HAS COME A LONG WAY IN A SHORT TIME AND HOPEFULLY HE’LL CONTINUE TO GROW BECAUSE EVENTUALLY HE HAS TO BE READY FOR THE REAL WORLD.
