The Iberia Parish sheriff says his office is “working hard to ensure no stone is left unturned” in determining what led to the death of a Black 15-year-old whose disappearance sparked speculation about racial crime. Sheriff Tommy Romero says his office is doing everything it can to gather evidence into what happened in the death of Quawan “Bobby” Charles. The parish coroner’s office said Friday that drowning appears to be the most likely cause of death of Charles. Meanwhile, Romero says anyone with information is asked to contact his office.

THE TWO, WHO ARE FROM THE SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS AREA, ARE NOT BELIEVED TO BE IN ALLEN PARISH ANYMORE. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON THE WHEREABOUTS OF VARGAS AND GALVIN ARE ASKED TO CONTACT THE OAKDALE FEDERAL CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTE, THE ALLEN PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE OR THE OAKDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
L-U-S IS RECOGNIZING FIVE EMPLOYEES WHO HELPED RESCUE A WOMAN AND HER DOG LAST WEEK FROM A HOUSE FIRE. PHILLIP GLOVER, ALLEN DUHON, ZACHARY LANDRY, EUGENE BROUSSARD AND KEITHAN BROUSSARD WERE WORKING ON BELLOT STREET WHEN THEY NOTICE SMOKE RISING FROM A HOME. L-U-S SAYS IN A NEWS RELEASE THAT THEY FOUND THE ELDERLY WOMAN AT THE DOOR AND WENT IN TO RESCUE HER DOG. THEY ALSO USED FIRE EXTINGUISHERS TO SLOW THE SPREAD OF THE FIRE UNTIL FIRE FIGHTERS ARRIVED.

CASTRO HAS BEEN AMAZED BY THE RESPONSE SAYING THAT MANY PEOPLE IN VERMILLION PARISH ARE VERY GIVING AND VERY GODLY.

John Bel Edwards is marking a sharp increase in the daily number of new COVID-19 cases in the state with a renewed call for residents to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. THE NEW CASES OF COVID-NINETEEN ROSE TODAY BY FIVE HUNDRED FORTY-SEVEN, ACCORDING TO THE DEPARMENT OF HEALTH. THE TOTAL IS NOW OVER ONE HUNDRED NINETY-SEVEN THOUSAND. THERE WERE SEVEN MORE DEATHS FROM COVID-NINETEEN STATEWIDE. HOSPITALIZATIONS CONTINUE TO RISE, NOW WITH OVER EIGHT HUNDRED TOTAL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MORE THAN TWO MONTHS. THERE ARE SIXTY-FIVE MORE COVID-NINETEEN PATIENTS AND TWENTY-THREE MORE PATIENTS ON VENTILATORS.
THERE WAS ONE MORE DEATH IN ACADIANA, WHICH WAS IN IBERIA PARISH. THAT MOVES IBERIA PARISH’S TOTAL TO ONE HUNDRED. THERE ARE NO NEW DEATHS IN SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA. ACADIANA REPORTS EIGHTY-SEVEN NEW CASES INCLUDING THIRTY IN LAFAYETTE PARISH. THE TOTAL IS NOW TWENTY-NINE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED FIFTY. THERE’S TWENTY-EIGHT NEW CASES IN SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA, INCLUDING TWENTY-TWO IN CALCASIEU PARISH. THE TOTAL NOW EXCEEDS THIRTEEN THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED.
