Hillsong United

Hillsong United, now known as United, was born out of a fervent desire for the youth contingency to engage in worship with more of a rock ’n’ roll musical sensibility. The band followed in the footsteps of worship leader Darlene Zschech, who led a separate band “Hillsong” that was based out of the same church.
Currently led by songwriters and worship leaders Joel Houston, Jad Gillies and JD in their native Australia, Hillsong United is known for their congregational-friendly songs like “Lead Me To The Cross, ““Your Name High,” “King of All Days,” and “Aftermath.”
The song, “Search My Heart” off the album Aftermath displays the band’s complete devotion to God and dedication to worship. “We’d be all living in the aftermath of our sins if it weren’t for Jesus,” explains Joel. “Because of Him, we’re living in a different aftermath, one filled with hope and forgiveness.”
As much as Hillsong United’s heart beats for the Church, they’ve always had an unwavering desire to reach the non-believer, too, which is exactly why I-HEART (www.i-heart.org/), a unique opportunity for Christians to put feet to their faith, was launched.
Emphasizing the power in Christians teaming together for a common purpose, I-HEART simply exists to “help more people,” whether it’s the homeless population in Sydney or those struggling with drug addiction in Sao Paulo. To accomplish their purpose, the band partners with believers from every corner of the earth, which officially makes it the I-HEART revolution they always dreamed about.
Their latest worship album Cornerstone, has sold more than 11 million copies nationwide and captures the essence of a true heart for worship. The album features new songs, as well as old favorites such as “Mighty To Save.”Beginning in September, Hillsong LIVE will be returning to the U.S. for their highly anticipated Cornerstone Tour.
Hillsong United is also gearing up for the release of The Global Project (September 18, 2012)- a collection of their most powerful songs recorded in nine different languages. The album will release across the world simultaneously in Asia, South America, and Europe. “We are directed to ‘go into all the world’ and as a church we are committed to proclaiming Christ for the entire planet,” shares Hillsong worship pastor, Reuben Morgan, about the motivation for the project. “There is something powerful about singing a song in your own language. God cares about all people in all nations and it was a privilege to work with so many great people and churches who are passionately bringing truth and hope to their countries,”
