TWO PUPPIES PUT IN A DUMPSTER ARE SAFE NOW AND A NEW HOME HAS BEEN FOUND FOR THEM.  THE DUMPSTER IS LOCATED NEXT TO SEBASTIEN’S WEST END SEAFOOD IN OPELOUSAS AND STORE OWNER SHARON SEBASTIEN TELLS KLFY TV THAT, ONCE SHE LEARNED ABOUT THE INCIDENT, SHE WENT AND FOUND THE FOOTAGE OF THE SUSPECTS ON HER SURVEILLANCE CAMERA.  IT WAS SENT TO THE PARISH GOVERNMENT AND PARISH INVESTIGATOR SPENCER CORNETTE SAYS THAT, ONCE IT WAS PUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA, THEY HAD A TIP WITHIN AN HOUR.  CORNETTE AND PARISH PRESIDENT JESSE BELLARD WENT TO THE SUSPECT’S HOME AND ARRESTED THE TWO, JASMINE MOUTON AND KENDALL TYLER, WHO ARE BOTH CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.

 

THOUSANDS OF STATE RESIDENTS COULD BE GETTING SOME MONEY BACK FROM THE STATE GOVERNMENT.  SYLVIA MASTERS EXPLAINS.

AN IOWA POLICE OFFICER SHOT AT A MAN DRIVING A STOLEN VEHICLE WHO FLED DURING A TRAFFIC STOP EARLY FRIDAY MORNING, ACCORDING TO AN INVESTIGATION BY STATE POLICE.  IT LED TO A CHASE WESTBOUND ON I-TEN AND THE OFFICER FIRED HIS WEAPON STRIKING THE VEHICLE ON TOOMEY ROAD IN VINTON.  THE CHASE ENDED ON WEST STREET IN VINTON WHERE THE DRIVER WAS ARRESTED.  AUTHORITIES SAY NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE SHOOTING.

 

LAST NIGHT THE LAFAYETTE CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSED THE ISSUE OF PANHANDLERS.  COUNCILMAN KENNETH BOUDREAUX SAYS THEY TALKED ABOUT THE ISSUE OF RAISING FUNDS AT INTERSECTIONS OR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.  HE SAYS HE’S WORRIED ABOUT SOMEONE GETTING HURT.  HE TELLS KLFY TV HE’S PROPOSING A FIVE- OR TEN-DOLLAR PERMIT SYSTEM ACCOMPANIED BY ESSENTIAL SAFETY RULES TO FOLLOW.

 

A VERMILLION PARISH WOMAN HAD HER HOUSE COLLAPSE AROUND HER AS STORMS PASSED THROUGH THE AREA SATURDAY.  THE ROOF OF THE MOBILE HOME BELONGING TO MARLENE BROUSSARD OF LEBLANC WAS RIPPED OFF BY STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS AND A WALL COLLAPSED.  SHE SAYS SHE WAS LYING ON TOP OF HER DOG TO PROTECT IT WHEN THE WALL COLLAPSED ON HER BUT THEY WEREN’T HIT BECAUSE HER BED AND A TV CABINET WERE IN THE WAY.  BROUSSSARD SAYS SHE’S LIVED THERE FOR FORTY YEARS AND NOW SHE WILL BE LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME.

 

A SEVEN-FOOT ALLIGATOR WAS FOUND ON BAILEY STREET IN RAYNE TUESDAY.  IT WAS FOUND HIDING UNDER A MAN’S PICKUP TRUCK.  POLICE AND ANIMAL CONTROL MANAGED TO CAPTURE THE ALLIGATOR AND REMOVE IT.  IT’S BELIEVED THE RECENT RAINFALL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ALLIGATOR COMING INTO TOWN AS WATER LEVELS WERE PUSHED HIGHER.

 

THE OWNER AND OPERATOR OF T-JOHN’S MOBILE HOME PARK WEST OF NEW IBERIA HAS BEEN ARRESTED ON CHARGES THAT INCLUDE FIRST-DEGREE RAPE AND MOLESTATION OF A JUVENILE.  THE IBERIA PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE RELEASED A STATEMENT MONDAY ABOUT THE APRIL TWENTY-SIXTH ARREST OF FORTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD ERIC BULLIARD.  THEY SAY THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE’S SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT, CONDUCTING A NARCOTIC’S INVESTIGATION IN FEBRUARY, FOUND BULLIARD ALLEGEDLY COMMITTED CRIMES BEYOND NARCOTICS ACTIVITY.  BAIL HAS BEEN SET AT ONE-POINT-TWO-FIVE MILLION DOLLARS.
