METH WAS FOUND IN A GAME CASE BY AN 11 YEAR OLD BOY . THE GAME WAS PURCHASED AT THE GAMESTOP ON NELSON ROAD IN LAKE CHARLES ON WEDNESDAY. THE BOY FOUND THE BAGGIE OF DRUGS WHEN HE OPENED THE GAME CASE. THE FATHER RETURNED THE GAME AND CONTACTED THE LAKE CHARLES POLICE. THE GAMESTOP MANAGER ON DUTY SAID THE GAME CAME FROM ANOTHER STORE AND WASN’T CHECKED BEFORE IT WAS SOLD. GAMESTOP’S POLICY IS THAT ALL GAMES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CHECKED WHEN THEY ARE RETURNED OR TRADED BEFORE GOING BACK ON SALE OR SENT TO OTHER STORES, BUT NOT CHECKED AGAIN WHEN RECEIVED FROM ANOTHER STORE. GAMESTOP TOLD THE POLICE THEY HAD NO WAY TO TRACK WHERE THE GAME CAME FROM.

 

Ellen Taylor, 37 of Arnaudville has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from the St. Martin Parish School Board. Taylor was taken into custody after the Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident, which was first reported in late July. That report claimed that $3,570 was stolen. According to Major Ginny Higgins, Taylor is an employee of the St. Martin Parish School Board. Taylor has been booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on a Theft of Goods charge. The investigation is ongoing.

Damal Shavon Duhon was arrested for one count of second-degree Murder. Police said Duhon was identified as one of the suspects in the fatal shooting which occurred on August 30. Lafayette police have issued additional arrest warrants for both 18-year-old Tyron Coates, and 18-year-old Frederick Lawrence for second-degree murder in connection with the shooting, according to a news release. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Tyron Coates and/or Frederick Lawrence is urged to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS

 

DEVIN BADON WAS ARRESTED ON A PAROLE VIOLATION WHEN HE DIDN’T REPORT AFTER HIS RELEASE AUGUST 13TH. BADON ALSO LEFT THE STATE WITHOUT GETTING PERMISSION FROM HIS PAROLE OFFICER TO DO AN INTERVIEW WITH THE DR. PHIL SHOW IN LOS ANGLES. BADON PLED GUILTY TO NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE IN THE 2011 KILLING OF STEPHIN BERGERON. BADON HAD SOMEONE BUY THE BULLETS THAT DAVID FONTENOT USED TO KILL BERGERON.

ERIC JOSEPH BREAUX, 39 OF LAKE CHARLES WAS INDICTED ON ONE COUNT OF FIRST DEGREE RAPE AND HIS WIFE SARAH JOI BREAUX, 33 WAS INDICTED ON ONE COUNT OF PRINCIPAL TO FIRST DEGREE RAPE YESTERDAY BY A GRAND JURY. ERIC WAS ARRESTED LAST MONTH AFTER HE ADMITTED TO HAVING SEX WITH A JUVENILE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FROM NOVEMBER 2014 TO JULY OF THIS YEAR. SARAH WAS ARRESTED WHEN SHE ADMITTED TO KNOWING ABOUT HER HUSBAND’S CRIMES AND NOT REPORTING IT.

 

The Rayne Chief of Police said officers acted on a tip that a Rayne convenience store was illegally selling alcohol to persons under the age of 21. Police arrested Waif S. Salem, 29, of Rayne with the illegal sale of alcohol to a person under the age of 21. A spokesperson with the department said the sale included a half pint of whisky and a 20-pack of bottled beer. Officers also charged Nicholas Hans Roy, 20, of Rayne with underage possession of alcohol.

WESTLAKE POLICE RESPONDED TO A CALL AROUND 7:30 LAST NIGHT, WHERE THEY FOUND ONE MAN THAT WAS SEVERELY INJURED IN A DIRT BIKE ACCIDENT ON A VACANT PROPERTY NEAR WESTLAKE HIGH. HE WAS AIRLIFTED TO A LAFAYETTE HOSPITAL BY ACADIAN AMBULANCE.
