Jeremy Camp
Jeremy Camp’s life has been a testimony of God’s faithfulness as he overcame the largest trial of his life, losing his first wife Melissa, to ovarian cancer just months after their wedding. Outlined in his book entitled I Still Believe: Discovering Hope and Healing in the Midst of Life’s Deepest Valleys, Jeremy discusses how the loss of his wife impacted him, and also how his faith has grown and impacted his music over the last ten years.
Now married to fellow musician Adie Camp and father to three, , Jeremy Camp has always had a heart for ministry. Growing up the son of a Calvary Chapel pastor, the faith of his childhood would eventually became his own. Armed with the guitar his dad taught him to play when he was younger, Jeremy began sharing his journey of God’s faithfulness in the midst of sorrow. Some of his first songs, “I Still Believe” and “Walk By Faith,” instantly became fan favorites.
His popularity continued on during his 10-year career with BEC Records, as Jeremy has captured over 20 #1 radio hits, a Grammy nomination, and five Dove Awards.
In 2008, Jeremy came out with a new album that featured title track “Speaking Louder Than Before,” as well as “There Will Be A Day,” and “No Matter What It Takes.” This series of songs have pushed Camp to take a more intentional approach to talking about faith.
“If my heart’s not breaking for the lost, I won’t come across the way I need to,” Jeremy says on his official website. “I’ve given up on making this life my home…I don’t want my messy handprints all over this.”
In 2010, Jeremy released We Cry Out – The Worship Project. The songs on the album, including “The Way,” “Jesus Saves,” and “Overcome” focused on the power of Jesus’ sacrifice and creating a purely worship environment.“It was a project for me and the Lord vertically saying, ‘Lord I just love you and I want to worship you and I want to get on my face before you.’”
Jeremy’s latest song “Come Alive,” off the album Reckless (February 12, 2013), is a song about the true redemption we can only find through Christ.”Come Alive,” follows Camp’s hits “My God,” and “Reckless,” also off the album. “He has been teaching me complete surrender – that aspect of being “reckless” for Him,” Jeremy says. “My hope is that Reckless encourages people to step into the fullness of what God has called them to do, and take action.”
In 2013, Jeremy received two nominations for the 44th annual Dove Awards.
