THE LEAD ATTORNEY, JOHN MCELLIGOTT JUNIOR, SAYS THE JUDGE HAS NOT RULED YET ON THEIR REQUEST, WHICH WAS FILED IN JANUARY. LOTIEF WAS FIRED ON NOVEMBER FIRST OF 2017 OVER ALLEGED COMPLAINTS FROM STUDENTS AND STAFF ABOUT ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR AND CREATING A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT. LOTIEF CLAIMS HE WAS FIRED BECAUSE OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT GENDER INEQUALITY IN THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT.
THE LAKE CHARLES POLICE DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING THAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT ON L-A 14. THERE AREN’T MANY DETAILS AT THIS TIME. THE SHOOTING APPARENTLY WAS IN CONNECTION WITH A CARJACKING. IT HAPPENED NEAR BUFFI’S PEAUX BOYS AND SOUTHERN MOBILE HOME AND R-V SUPPLIES.

The Supreme Court will consider overturning a criminal conviction by a 10-2 vote in Louisiana. The justices acted Monday, four months after Louisiana voters amended the state constitution to prohibit non-unanimous verdicts in criminal cases. Oregon is the only state that still allows them. The case will be argued in the fall.
A PREGNANT LAFAYETTE WOMAN IS CREDITING A GOOD SAMARITAN FOR SAVING HER LIFE YESTERDAY. ALFRELISHA THIBEAUX, WHO IS SIX-AND-A-HALF MONTHS PREGNANT, SAYS SHE ENCOUNTERED ENGINE PROBLEMS NEAR THE I-TEN AMBASSADOR CAFFERY EXIT AND PULLED OVER TO CALL HER FIANCEE. SHE SAYS THE GOOD SAMARITAN YELLED AT HER TO GET OUT OF HER VEHICLE AND MOMENTS AFTER EXITING INTO AN ADJACENT DITCH, HER VEHICLE WENT UP IN FLAMES. SHE SAYS SHE’D LIKE TO FIND THE MAN, WHO WAS IN HIS MID-TWENTIES WITH BLOND HAIR AND WEARING A WORK UNIFORM. SHE SAYS SHE AND HER FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO SHOW HIM THEIR THANKS.

THE ACADIA PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS SEARCHING FOR A MISSING IOTA MAN. 31-YEAR-OLD ALTON LOWE WAS LAST SEEN ON FEBRUARY NINTH. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE HAS NOT RELEASED THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING HIS DISAPPEARANCE. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON LOWE’S WHERABOUTS IS ASKED TO CALL THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE AT 788-87-HUNDRED.
The Louisiana Republican Party’s executive director faces multiple charges in New Orleans’ municipal court following a weekend incident that took place hours after his wedding. New Orleans news outlets report that court records state that Andrew Bautsch was asked to leave an establishment at the Pontchartrain hotel around 3 a.m. Saturday. He is accused of resisting and shoving a New Orleans Levee District police officer who was working a security detail at the hotel. State GOP chairman Louis Gurvitch told the New Orleans Advocate that Bautsch, who is on his honeymoon, “vociferously denies” the charges and that the incident resulted from a misunderstanding.
