Paul C.P. McIlhenny, chief executive and chairman of the board of the McIlhenny Company that makes the trademarked line of Tabasco hot pepper sauces and other products, has died. He was 68. A company statement issued Sunday from its Avery Island headquarters in Louisiana announced the death. The company says McIlhenny, a member of a family that has been producing the world-famous sauce for generations, joined the company in 1967 and directly oversaw production and quality of all products sold under the Tabasco brand for 13 years.





FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS, AN INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW WILL BE COMING TO LAKE CHARLES. DETAILS OF THE SHOW WILL BE ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK DURING A NEWS CONFERENCE. THE CHENNAULT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WILL BE PROVIDING THE VENUE AND LOGISITICS, BUT A VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE WILL GOVERN THE UPCOMING SHOW AND ANY IN THE FUTURE. THE DIRECTOR OF THE AIRPORT, REGGIE ROBB, SAYS THE AIRSHOW IS THE RESULT OF SO MANY PEOPLE ASKING FOR IT.





A SCOTT MAN SUFFERED SECOND AND THIRD DEGREE BURNS TO HIS HANDS AND ARMS FROM A GREASE FIRE. FIREFIGHTERS SAY THE MAN WAS COOKING AT A HOME ON FRENCH COURT AND A FIRE BROKE OUT. THE MAN SUFFERED THE BURNS TRYING TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE FIRE CAUSED MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE HOME.





LOUISIANA WILL SOON GET SOME MONEY FROM TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION.





Louisiana State Police say a driver who left his seat belt off has died after a three-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 190 west of Basile. Trooper Stephen Hammons says 26-year-old Dwayne Griffin of Kinder died shortly after arrival at a hospital.

Hammons says Griffin was heading west when his truck crossed the center line Saturday night and hit an east-bound truck and an SUV. He says the other drivers and a passenger in the second truck all used their seat belts and suffered minor injuries.







JENNINGS POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A DOUBLE HOMOCIDE. K-A-T-C-T-V REPORTS THAT A HUSBAND AND WIFE, CHARLES AND KATRINA WILLIAMS, HAD BEEN DEAD SINCE FRIDAY AND WERE FOUND BY KATRINA’S MOTHER, WHO CALLED POLICE. THEIR FOUR-YEAR-OLD SON WAS THERE AND HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL FOR A CHECK-UP. THE CALCASIEU PARISH FORENSICS INVESTIGATION UNIT IS ASSISTING THE INVESTIGATION.





LAFAYETTE POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR TWO BLACK MALES WHO ARE SUSPECTS IN THREE BURGLARIES ON MCKINLEY STREET. IN TWO OF THE ROBBERIES, THE VICTIMS WERE THREATENED WITH A GUN AND MACE WAS SPRAYED IN THEIR FACES WHILE THE THIRD HAD A PURSE STOLEN FROM HER CAR. ONE OF THE SUSPECTS IS FIVE-THREE WITH DREADLOCKS WHILE THE OTHER IS FIVE-FIVE, WEARING A RED AND GREY SWEATER. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON THE SUSPECTS SHOULD CALL CRIME STOPPERS AT 232-TIPS.





A new state program will gather ideas to improve the results, lower the cost and cut the time required to build projects under Louisiana's master plan for coastal restoration. The Coastal Innovation Partnership Program's first round of applications will be accepted from March 1 through March 22 with a one-page application. It will be available at thewaterinstitute.org/innovation starting March 1. The Advocate reports the program is a partnership of the authority and the Water Institute of the Gulf, a nonprofit organization that will manage applications, review them and present a report to the authority.
